Wait…I have a book due in three months?

January 19th, 2010

Ok, if you read the regular site, you may notice that about once a month, a little article called World Craft comes out.  There’s been about 8 installments so far.

The concept is simple: I show you how to create a campaign setting (the specifics are for D&D 3.5 ed, but the overall theory can be applied to pretty much any roleplaying game or even to anything else really), and give examples of each step.

Late Night Shopping

January 3rd, 2010

As far as I’m concerned, the best time to do any shopping you have to do is between the hours of 12 and 6 in the morning.  That’s any time between midnight and when the sane people begin to wake up and start their days.  It’s just one of those fantastic, yet absolutely bizarre experiences that everybody should try at least once.

The only problem is that your options are usually limited during the twilight hours.  Sure, there’s always convenience stores, but those don’t really count.  Grocery stores, even department stores are the best places to visit on your pre-dawn excursions.

But Aren’t They Missing the Point?

December 16th, 2009

I’ve felt a little more detached from the world at large lately, and things that happen around me don’t seem to make much sense to me, although everyone else seems to go along with it just fine.

I was in the Canadian Tire last night along with Chippy Sunshine, on the quest for duplicate keys.  When we got there, we were greeted with the most unholy sight one could expect to find in a hardware store: a grocery store.

December Tidings

December 8th, 2009

Well, things at Useless Babble HQ have been going well, and by that, I mean that it’s really fucking cold.  The Halycon days of one of the coldest and wettest summers I can remember are gone and replaced with the cold and wet of early December.  It’s enough to make a man want to start a fire in the middle of his living room floor, if just to get warm for a little while.

The End of the Eight

November 23rd, 2009

Today was the series finale of Jon & Kate Plus Eight.  Although I’ve never really been a fan of the show, I do find the kids to be utterly adorable, and I can’t help but chuckle at their wide-eyed enthusiasm to the world at large.

Since I’ve written about the kids previously in my blog post Jon & Kate Plus an Extended Custody Battle, I felt almost obligated to see the show out.  As I mentioned earlier, I’m not really a fan.  This was something that Chippy Sunshine got me into, but still…there are some things that need mentioning.

A Newfound Respect

September 29th, 2009

One of the many projects that I’m working on right now is a virtual ‘Choose Your Own Adventure’ novel that I hope to have up on the site in early 2010.

When I first started this project, I was a bit cocky.  A few pages here, a few pages there, link them together and I’m done.  The original plan was to have it ready for the Labour Day weekend as a kind of ‘Back to School’ article.  I was certainly not prepared for this amount of work.

End of the Summer

September 21st, 2009

Well, even if Fall doesn’t arrive for a couple of days, it’s already looking, and feeling like it out there.  Soon, I won’t be able to wear shorts outside without looking like a raving lunatic.

You’ll also notice, if you go to any stores, and I don’t suggest that you do, that Christmas is already being pimped out and is soon to be whoring on a street near you.
